columbia.jpgJanuary 12, 1986, shuttle Columbia made a return trip to space after a 3 year absents. The shuttle was named after a 1700’s Massachusetts based ship, the Columbia Rediviva. The shuttle made a few firsts; the first African-American pilot (Charles Bolden), as well as the first Costa Rican astronaut (Franklin Chang-Diaz) and the second sitting politician to fly in space (Rep. Bill Nelson). The mission was to set a sattlite in orbit. The mission lasted 6 days, 2 hours, 3 miniuts and 51 seconds and was the last seccussful mission before the Challenger catastrophe only 10 days later.

Columbia
2 oz. Brandy
½ oz. Sweet Vermouth
½ oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
Splash of Grenadine
Dash of Angostura Bitters

Pour all ingredents into a shaker half-filled with ice, shake and strain into a cocktail glass.
