Ice cubes made with cucumber water are one of the ingenious twist in this potent martini, which is made with sake instead of gin or vodka.
Saketini
1 ½ oz. Sake
1 ½ oz. Vodka
3 Cucumber Ice Cubes
Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add sake and vodka and shake well. Strain into a rocks glass over the Cucumber Ice Cubes.
Cucumber Ice Cubes
2 Medium cucumbers – peeled, seeded and cut into chunks
¼ Cup of spinach leaves, tightly packed
1 4-inch tarragon spring
Combine all of the ingredients in a blender or food processor and puree. Press through a fine strainer to extract the liquid; freeze the extracted liquid in an ice cube tray. Makes about 12 ice cubes.
Valentine’s Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14. In North America, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine’s cards, presenting flowers, or backed goods. The holiday is named after two among the numerous Early Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.
Pink Valentine Punch
1 Bottle Chilled Champagne
1 Bottle Rose Wine
10 oz. Frozen Strawberries, thawed
¼ cup Fine Sugar
Place sugar and strawberries (with their juice) in a punch bowl. Stir to dissolve sugar. Add wine and champagne. Makes about 15 servings.
The Big Crush
2 ½ oz. Raspberry-flavored Vodka
1 oz. Triple Sec
½ oz. Chambord (Raspberry Liqueur)
1 splash of Lime Juice
Champagne
Shake first four ingredients with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass and top with champagne. Garnish with fresh blackberries or respberries.
